The caps from the performance are 1136 x 856 pixels and are completely unchanged, just copied and saved from the DVD. The caps from the Bonus features have been cropped (to take off the black background) and are 1114 x 517 pixels, or 1128 x 624 pixels.

Whilst some caps may be quite blurry and out of focus, they do come out better with a bit of Photoshopping (or whatever program you use) magic, if you want to make bases and stuff.

Vanessa Paradis Mood Theme

This has taken quite some time in the making, but I have finally finished my first ever Mood Theme, with the subject of Vanessa Paradis! I've started working on a Kate Moss one next, but it will probably take a while as there are soooo many images to choose from!

Aaaanyways, here's a pretty Preview:

All the photos are from photoshoots, films, public events or the occasional paparazzi. A Read Me file has been included in the download with instructions on how to install the mood theme for Basic and Sponsored+ accounts. I'm afraid I don't know how to do it for Paid ones.

Tutorial 001

This is my first ever tutorial, so feedback via comments would be absolutely spiffing!

Program Used: Photoshop version 7.0

Going from this to

Colouring:

1. Crop image and resize to 100x100 pixels, then go to Filter >> Sharpen >> Sharpen and use the blur tool on 60% strength to smooth out skin and anything that looks too sharp
2. Dulpicate layer twice, set the first copy to screen at 100%, and the second to overlay at 100%
3. Create a new layer, and fill with a dark, navy blue colour (I used #110654), then set to exclusion at 100%
4. Create a new layer and fill with a very light pink (I used #FDD7FB), then set to multiply at 50%
5. Duplicate your base layer again and bring to the top, set to screen at 100%
6. Duplicate this layer twice, but set the first to soft light at 100%, and desaturate the second (the one on top) and also set to soft light at 100%

Time to decorate! For this icon, the steps I took were:

1. Create a new layer and set to screen at 100%
2. Using the gradient tool (one side black, one side white) I made the fuzzy white area on the left, holding the shift key down as I dragged the cursor to ensure it would be perfectly straight
3. Create a new layer
4. Using a sparkles brush, dot a few bits of glitter about
5. Create a new layer
6. With the pencil tool at 1 pixel, draw a border of choice around the image

Et Voila!

Obviously you can customize it to your hearts content, and especially as this is my first ever tutorial I would LOVE to hear how people got on with it, and see the results of anyone who followed the tutorial to completion!

Just a Note

This is just a note to say I've decided to change the system I've been using with the scans.

I've decided that rather than uploading the larger scans to my server and letting anyone take them, costing bandwidth, I shall host the smaller images and if people would like the larger versions then they can leave a comment saying what they'd like. I will then send the images in whatever format the individual would like.

This way I can reduce the costs to my bandwidth, and keep better tabs on where my big scans at least are going.

Please also let me know if you want the scans for a fansite, as I'd appreciate credit for them. It may not seem like it takes much to scan a few magazines, but it does and I do my best to ensure that they're as high-quality as I can get.

That's all for now, I've not had much time to scan stuff lately but I hope to get some things done maybe in the next week, and I'm also looking at doing screencaps for various films including Queen of the Damned, Atomik Circus, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Big Fish. They won't all be done within the week, but they're projects I'm looking at completing over the next few months.

25 Icons: Vanessa Paradis and Queen of the Damned

It's amazing how you can suddenly come out of a graphical slump, just in time to delay you further from doing that which you're supposed to be doing; artwork due in the next day. Nevertheless that's what has happened, and now at 11.20pm I'm going to have to start the work. It probably won't be due in tomorrow but for the next day, but I'd better at least start it tonight anyways.

But for now here are the icons I've made. They're all pretty similar to one another, verging upon exactly the same, but I like making sets and wanted to use different photos from the same shoots and stuff. Plus I like quantity, not necessarily over quality, but I like making lots and lots of icons.
